As long as it remains the worlds largest state sponsor of terrorism we should be maintaining not dismantling robust sanctions on Iran.
WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) released the following statement on the Obama Administrations proposed nuclear deal with Iran:
The Obama Administrations proposed deal with Iran is an empty assurance that falls woefully short of the goals which even the president initially set forth. I am deeply concerned that the Administrations concessions will only embolden the terrorist-sponsoring Iranian regime. History and experience have taught us that Iran has no qualms with flagrantly ignoring international agreements; this deal offers no proof that their attitude has changed. In particular Americans should be very troubled by the presidents agreement to allow Iran to resume purchases of foreign arms from other countries such as Russian and China.
It is incomprehensible that this Administration made a deal that gives Iran the benefit of the doubt while lifting sanctions on known killers of American soldiers as our citizens sit in Iranian prisons. As long as it remains the worlds largest state sponsor of terrorism we should be maintaining not dismantling robust sanctions on Iran.
A nuclear Iran would be the gravest threat to America and our allies in the Middle East. Any agreement that does not permanently halt Irans nuclear ambitions is a bad deal that Congress cannot support."
