Bar-B-Q with U.S. Senate nominee Ted Cruz Sunday Night!
By State Rep. Jason Isaac
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Recently I received an email from an elderly woman who explained that her husband
is still having to work at 71 years old. They are living off of a limited income and working to make ends meet. At the end of her note she asked me to continue to fight for them and
not to let their taxes be raised.
This email really hit home with me.
A significant portion of each paycheck she explained is sent to the government in one form or another whether it is through property taxes sales taxes or federal taxes.
It was a reminder of why I work to lower taxes and to increase fiscal responsibility.
Two years ago today (September 13th 2011) I signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. The pledge reads:
I Jason Isaac pledge to the taxpayers of the 45th District of the State of Texas and all the people of this state that I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.
Our government has a spending problem not a revenue problem. In fact

last Legislative Session specifically the 2011 Session was the first time in 50 years that we decreased overall spending.
Although we must continue to adequately fund the basic responsibilities of state government such as public education public safety transportation etc. many other non-essential government programs have continually expanded leading to a ballooning bill for taxpayers.
When my opponent publicly supported a 12.5 property tax increase recently I thought about what kind of impact that would have on normal working families.
Those of us who are fortunate enough to have a job in this economy would be depositing less of our paycheck in the bank and others without a job or living on a fixed income could be left choosing between paying their taxes or providing for their families.
Were in the worst economy since the Great Depression. Now is not the time to raise taxes. Thats why I publicly opposed the increase.
Two years later I am still proud to have signed the
Taxpayer Protection Pledge. I have kept this promise to my constituents and I will continue to keep this promise as long as I am fortunate enough to serve as your state representative.
And then on a different note ...
