Most better serve constituents & state by being about the business of the people building unity
I am sure you have all heard it said “This is the fastest year I have ever seen.” Well I believe it has been perhaps Al Gore would say it is “global speed up”.
The elections are over and it is time to get to work on the issues of the coming 81st Session of the Texas Legislature.
I have already pre-filed a number of bills for the purpose of assisting our local district cities and state. Priorities of the session will be: address margin tax reform; school property tax reform; immigration concerns and legislation that will continue to strengthen traditional family values while protecting life.
Having served on the Sunset Commission I will be involved in the 27 state agencies we have been reviewing as well as the issues that have come before the House Committees I serve on; Financial Institutions and State Affairs.
It must be understood that while everything in Texas is not perfect we are well ahead of other states and in a very envious position compared to the financial affairs of the nation and other states facing huge deficits.
If it were different the first ones to blame would be leadership yet pitifully little credit is given to them for these accomplishments. With commitment and unity we will do more for this 81st Session.
This will be a very busy session and it is disappointing that there are those that may want to only fight for personal gain power or future control. At present we find 12 members who have filed for Speaker.
Most would better serve their constituents and the state by being about the business of the people and making the aim of building unity through commitment. I wonder if we were to look deeply just how much aid was given to assist others rather than looking for their own advancement ego or power trip.
After visiting and speaking to individuals in Austin and around the state past and present members I have come to the same conclusion as they … it would be very unwise and disappointing to bet against the chair.
