Jack OConnor Announces for Texas State House of Representatives District 149

texas-politics3Houston Houstonian Jack OConnor filed for the office of Texas State Representative District 149.  OConnor will be on the March Republican Primary ballot and upon a successful campaign victory on March 2 will face Democrat incumbent Hubert Vo in the November general election.  Jack OConnor first moved to Houston in 1975 and has lived in District 149 for more than 20 years.  I believe that this District has been under-represented in the Texas House of Representatives.  I want to go to Austin to be the voice of the people of District 149 who have not been heard from nor kept informed for far too long said Jack OConnor. jack-oconnerOConnor continued I plan on addressing the issues that will have impact on the lives of those who reside in District 149.   In my business career I have been responsible for job growth in the Houston area while being responsible for Profit and Loss during a challenging period in economic history.   I will bring a positive and orderly approach to the business of the Texas State of Representatives. OConnor concluded I feel that we need to seriously look at the issue of crime in our district and address the problems with real solutions.  I also think we need to reduce the burden on taxation on local businesses and on our citizens by passing meaningful tax reduction measures.  As a businessman myself I have seen what happens when businesses are rewarded for their diligence and hard work and they pay less in taxes that money often stays in the community and everybody wins with jobs and buying opportunities.  Sending more money to Austin is not the solution to any of the problems in District 149." Jack OConnor worked for Dresser Industries from 1974 through 1993 when he joined Flow Technologies a new company in the area.  After significant growth and later a change in ownership in 2008 Jack started a consulting business and manages several smaller business ventures currently.  Jack OConnor is married to his wife Karen of 31 years and has a son Peter who lives in Houston.   Jack and Karen are members of the St. John Vianney Church.
