Joe Pojman & Texas Alliance for Life Talks: 2011 & 13 Sessions the Best We've Ever Seen

Im still pinching myself after the success... AUSTIN Texas (Texas Insider Report) As someone whos lobbied for pro-life laws in the Texas Capitol since 1987 close to 30 years I can say with confidence that these last two Sessions 2011 and 2013 have been the best weve ever seen Texas Alliance for Life Exec. Director Joe Pojman tells Insiders Jim Cardle.   Im still pinching myself after the success of 2011 and with (the successes of) 2013 Im just still walking on clouds Pojman says. After our public information request (in 2011) we discovered that Planned Parenthood was receiving $31 million a year out of a huge bucket called (Texas) Family Planning Funding ... funding for Womens Health contraceptives STD testing some limited treatment actually every narrow range of services Pojman said. Consequently because of the efforts of Sen. Jane Nelson and (State Rep.) Dr. John Zerwas and some other House & Senate members the $31 million dollars they were receiving got cut down to only $2 million a year. And we didnt have to cut those funds the funds were shifted to other very worthy pro-life organizations that are not part of the abortion industry said Pojman. Many states would be extremely envious of Texas just for any one of those bills and we had three that session ... in addition to an appropriations bill that continued to defund Planned Parenthood we promoted adult stem cell (research) and provide money for pro-life alternatives Pojman said. In 2013 we passed more defunding of Planned Parenthood and also passed House Bill 2 which was really four bills in one. It banned abortions after the 5th month of pregnancy and also vastly increased safety standards at abortion facilities. So ... its just been fantastic what this legislature has accomplished. I have never seen that in almost 30 years ... and have not heard of anything like it in the other states especially in such a short period of time Pojman said.
