Justice Jeff Brown Announces Endorsements

Former Republican National Committeewoman and Former Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas justice-jeff-brownJustice Jeff Brown who is seeking the Republican Party nomination for Place 3 on the Texas Supreme Court announced today the endorsement of former Republican National Committee-woman Penny Butler and former Republican Party of Texas Chairman George W. Strake Jr. Jeff Brown has remarkable experience intellect and integrity" said Ms. Butler.  Jeff brings eight years experience as a respected district and appellate judge as well as his experience as a briefing attorney to former Texas Supreme Court Justice Greg Abbott." Penny Butler served as Republican National Committeewoman as a Texas delegate to the Republican National Convention and has worked tirelessly to strengthen the grassroots of the Republican Party across Texas.   Justice Browns work ethic and conservative judicial philosophy make him our strongest candidate for our states highest court" Strake said.  Not only is his judicial experience outstanding he is a good man -- the son of a police officer an Eagle Scout the husband of a school teacher a devoted father of three and a judge who respects the rule of law." George W. Strake Jr. served as Secretary of State under Governor Bill Clements.  He served as Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas and was a member of the National Republican Committee. In announcing the endorsements Justice Brown said I want to serve Texas on our highest court because of my deep passion for the rule of law.  I believe judicial restraint calls for both courage and humility.  Im excited about earning the endorsements of two strong respected Republican party leaders and look forward to working with them as I talk with voters about the importance of our states highest court." Justice Brown currently serving on the Texas Fourteenth Court of Appeals is seeking the Republican Party nomination for Place 3 on the Texas Supreme Court a position held by Justice ONeill who recently announced she would not seek reelection.  The Republican primary election will be held March 2 2010. Justice Brown was appointed to the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in December 2007 and subsequently elected in 2008.  Prior to serving on the Court of Appeals he was appointed District Judge of the 55th District Court of Harris County and subsequently was elected in 2002 and reelected in 2006. Ever since he first took the bench Justice Brown has consistently been ranked among the most outstanding jurists in Harris County (according to the Houston Bar Associations Judicial Evaluation Polls 2003-2009). Before joining the 55th District Court Justice Brown tried jury cases across Southeast Texas as an associate in the trial department of Baker Botts. After graduating law school with honors he served for a year as a briefing attorney on the Texas Supreme Court for Justices Greg Abbott and Jack Hightower. Jeff and Susannah Brown have been married for 17 years and have three children Kathleen Rob and Gus.  The Browns are active members of Bellaire United Methodist Church
