Hearings bring vulnerabilities to light
By Cong. Lamar Smith
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Most of what the President has promised about his federal healthcare takeover has proved false.
On top of this the programs signature website Healthcare.gov is a debacle --
and puts Americans privacy at risk.
As Chairman of the Science Space Technology Committee I have held two hearings that brought to light the sites vulnerability to hackers and the ease in which the private and personal information of Americans could be stolen.
Its shameful the team that built the
Healthcare.gov site implemented minimal if any security best practices to mitigate the significant risk of a system compromise" said one witness -- a sentiment shared by many others.
Just last month a former senior security expert at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said she had warned against launching the
Healthcare.gov website on October 1st

because of high risk security concerns.
- The data collected by Healthcare.gov is processed by more than half a dozen federal agencies along with state agencies and government contractors.
- The collective database is one of the largest stores of personal information ever assembled.
- The President has played fast and loose with the facts on Obamacare. Now hes playing fast and loose with identity theft.
We cant keep our plan we cant keep our doctor we arent saving money.
I will continue to bring the deficiencies of Obamacare to light and work to right the many wrongs in this federal government overreach.
