SEIU Mi Familia Vota CPC & Americas Voice Radio Ads in Houston McAllen 7 other cities
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Service Employees International Union Mi Familia Vota Civic Participation Campaign and Americas Voice are today launching Spanish-language radio ads in Houston McAllen and 7 other media markets across the country to begin a voter mobilization drive across the nation holding politicians accountable for demonizing immigrants & blocking progress on immigration reform.

The $300000 ad buy is the largest national ad campaign from pro-immigration reform organizations. The ad will run in:
- Houston
- McAllen
- Phoenix
- Tucson
- Miami
- Orlando
- Denver
- Chicago and
- Las Vegas NV all areas where Latino voters will play a decisive role in contested races this November and in 2012.
The ads point to the Republican Partys obstructionism on immigration reform cite the
GOPs successful effort to block a vote on the DREAM Act
last week and encourage voters to support the candidates who support our families and make our dreams come true."
The ads are in addition to a national voter mobilization strategy this year that encourages Latino and immigrant voters to make their voices heard at
the polls. Various mobilization efforts are underway in Texas.
For instance in Houston where Latinos make up 18 of the electorate organizations are on track to turn out 16000 infrequent Latino voters.
This is our moment in Texas and across the country to use the power of the Latino vote to fight back against petty politics that only serve to divide us said Ben Monterroso Executive Director of
Mi Familia Vota Civic Participation Campaign.
Latino voters must take stock in who is with us and who is against us. This is the moment to vote for leaders who will offer real solutions to our broken immigration system and who will commit to build an economy that works for all working families Monterroso said.
The ad buy and larger mobilization effort are designed to increase turnout among surge" and low propensity" Latino voters and help close the gaps between those eligible to vote and those who turn out on election day.
Immigration reform is a human rights issue and the DREAM Act is especially a way to address this injustice said Cesar Espinosa a
DREAM advocate from Houston.
So it is a shame that the Republican Senators decided to vote along party lines and reject the DREAM Act. Thats why today we are speaking out to make sure the Latino community understands what is at stake if we do not hold our elected leaders accountable in
