width=137WASHINGTON D.C. – The 6th annual conference of The Academy of Medicine Engineering and Science of Texas (TAMEST) will be held in Dallas TX at the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre on January 8-9.

Honorary Chairman U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison will deliver the welcome at the opening session of the conference that will feature state and national leaders in the fields of medicine engineering and science.  The winners of the 2009 Edith and Peter O’Donnell Awards will also be announced and honored during the conference.

Keynote speakers at this year’s TAMEST conference include National Academy of Sciences President Dr. Ralph Cicerone NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Director Dr. Charles Elachi and UCLA’s Chairman of the Molecular and Medical Pharmacology Department Dr. Michael E. Phelps.

The Academy of Medicine Engineering and Science of Texas (TAMEST) was founded by U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Texas’ Nobel Laureates Dr. Michael Brown and the late Dr. Richard Smalley. 

Created as a Texas-version of the National Academies TAMEST consists of the state’s 10 Nobel Laureates and 200 plus members of the Institute of Medicine National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Sciences dedicated to increasing national awareness of and funding for research and development at Texas colleges and universities.  The annual two-day conference is designed to facilitate greater collaboration among the state’s leading
