Leppert Files For U.S. Senate Primary Ballot

Texas Insider Report: DALLAS Texas Conservative businessman and former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert today became the first major candidate to file for a spot on the Republican primary ballot for United States Senator from Texas. As mayor of Dallas from 2007-2011 Leppert led the citys resurgence in the areas of economic development education and public safety.  During his announcement and filing Leppert said he has employed sound commonsense business principles to cut spending and bureaucracy and worked closely with business leaders to make Dallas more economically competitive and job-friendly. The results speak for themselves says the Leppert Campaign. 50 new companies now call Dallas home the citys economy continues to expand and the crime rate plummeted. Unlike many of todays professional politicians Leppert says he has the experience and skill-set necessary to get our economy back on track. In August Leppert became the first and only candidate in the race to release a detailed and comprehensive Economic Plan to Create Jobs which was applauded by conservative pundits business leaders and the press.

Leppert is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College and Harvard Business School and served as a White House Fellow under President Ronald Reagan. Leppert spent over 25 years in the private sector before seeking public office. As a businessman Leppert built a proven record of cutting red tape reducing spending creating thousands of quality American jobs signing both sides of paychecks and balancing budgets in good times and bad. From 1999-2006 Leppert served as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of The Turner Corporation. Under Leppert s leadership the company added thousands of quality jobs and revenue doubled. With over $8 billion in revenue in 2006 Turner was the leading general builder in the United States. He has also led companies in five different industries during his career. Leppert is also a former board member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce the former chairman of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce and was recently recognized as the Annual Distinguished Business Leader" by the Texas Association of Business. Leppert has received strong support from leaders across the state. He has been endorsed by Congressman Michael C. Burgess (R-TX) and the mayors of Corpus Christi Arlington McKinney Denton Sugar Land Farmers Branch Southlake and Parker. He has also earned the support of some of Texas most prominent faith leaders and hundreds of Texas top job creators and small business owners. To date Lepperts Campaign has banked over $5.1 million raised more money from Texans than any candidate in the race and had an impressive $4.1 million cash on hand as of the last reporting period.
