“I am saddened by the court’s decision to overturn certain elements of HB 2, written to protect the health of Texas women …”
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Lt. Governor David Dewhurst released the following statement on Federal Judge Lee Yeakel’s decision to overturn essential life-protecting elements of HB2, a bill to protect the health of Texas women and defend the unborn.
“I am saddened by the court’s decision to overturn certain elements of HB 2, which were written to protect the health of Texas women. It is disturbing to know that the abortion
industry is celebrating a so-called victory that actually reduces the standard of care for the women from whom they profit.”
“With the ban in place on abortions after five months of pregnancy and the requirement for abortion clinics to meet ambulatory surgical center standards still intact, I am confident that Attorney General Abbott will succeed in his efforts to appeal a decision that diminishes our state’s broadly held respect for the unborn and their mothers,” Dewhurst said.
