Lt. Gov. Dewhurst: On Passage of Texas Welfare Reforms

This bill passed unanimously out of the Senate with good reason. Its not only good for employers and potential employees its good for Texas. david-dewhurst1Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Today Lt. Governor David Dewhurst issued the following statement on the Senates approval of SB11:  I am proud of the passage of Senator Jane Nelsons bill requiring drug testing for welfare recipients. Texas is the job creation capital of the nation and for those who are unemployed or getting back on their feet we must ensure they are fully prepared to enter the workforce where drug screening is commonplace. Welfare should never subsidize the irresponsible choices of otherwise capable people who instead elect to stay at home play video games and get high with their friends. This bill passed unanimously out of the Senate with good reason. Its not only good for employers and potential employees its good for Texas.
