Lt. Gov. Patrick Comments on Racing Commission Vote Announces Elections Advisory Committee

dan-patrickTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  -  Today Lt. Governor Dan Patrick appointed six members of the Texas media to the Elections Advisory Committee. The purpose of this committee is to evaluate the reporting and tabulation of unofficial returns for the primary and general elections. The committee makes recommendations to the office of the Texas Secretary of State. The following members have each been appointed to two-year terms set to expire on December 31 2017:

Mark Davis (The Mark Davis Show) Chad Hasty (KFYO Radio) Ross Ramsey (The Texas Tribune) Pedro Rojas (Univision) Mike Ward (The Houston Chronicle) Jason Whitely (WFAA) Its crucial to maintain transparency in all levels of government said Patrick. The experience and perspective each member brings to the table will be invaluable to the election process in Texas. The Elections Advisory Committee helps preserve the integrity of our civic duty privilege and responsibility - the right to vote.

On Texas Racing Commission Vote  I support todays action by the Texas Racing Commission to repeal its rules for historical racing in Texas. As a state district court has ruled only the Texas legislature can approve any expansion of gambling. With this issue now behind us I look forward to sitting down with responsible members of the horse racing industry to discuss the future of horse racing in Texas.
