Lt. Gov. Patrick Makes Statement with Passage of Gun Bills

dan-patrickTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick gave the following statement on the passage of gun bills from the Senate State Affairs Committee: I thank Chairwoman Huffman the members of the Senate State Affairs Committee and the members of the public who took time out of their day to come to Austin and testify on SB 11 and SB 17. Everyone put in a long day. I congratulate Senator Estes and Senator Birdwell for their hard work in building support for their important legislation. A lot of progress was made on gaining support for open carry in a very short period of time.
To my knowledge this is the first time that open carry has ever passed out of committee in either the Senate or the House. TexasI made a promise to help pass both open carry and campus carry and have worked hard on the issue. But as always 100 of the credit goes to the Senators for their success today.  We are now one step closer to passing these two historic bills out of the Senate. Within the first four weeks of session we have made great strides and historic changes.
