Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas (DALLAS) This morning Lt. Governor Dewhurst delivered the keynote address for the annual Dallas Veterans Day Parade. Lt. Governor Dewhurst a proud veteran of the United States Air Force comes from a long line of veterans including his father Lieutenant Colonel David Dewhurst Jr. who flew 85 combat missions over Europe including a decisive air strike on Utah Beach before the D-Day invasion. The theme of this years parade was Honoring Our Wounded Veterans.
Today we honor the men and women who answered dutys call to serve our country and put themselves in harms way all across the world" Dewhurst said. As Lieutenant Governor and as a fellow veteran one of my primary goals has been to make Texas the most vet-friendly state in America.
We have accomplished so much in terms of creating new hospitals and cemeteries providing homestead exemptions and expanding higher education opportunities for our veterans. I remain deeply passionate and am fully committed to ensuring all veterans receive the highest level of care and support they truly deserve."
