Maldonado Snubbed by Democrat County Chair Who Endorses Republican Gonzales in HD 52 Race

Republican Wave becoming evident in down ballot races? width=143Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Williamson County Democratic Party Chairman Gregory Windham announced Oct. 19 he is endorsing Larry Gonzales the Republican candidate for State House District 52 just north of Austin snubbing Democrat incumbent Rep. Diana Maldonado and dealing a major blow to her in one of Texas most closely-watched races. In a message posted on the countys Democratic party website Windham wrote:

It is quite apparent that many members of the Williamson County Democratic Party leadership are interested in following a more liberal national agenda than listening to the majority of their constituents here locally.

Said Windham further in the posting As a 5th-generation Texan & longtime supporter of Conservative Texas principles I find myself isolated within the party ranks and unable to relay my message of fiscal responsibility family values free markets and fair play. The divisive rigid leadership with the state and local party have it clear from the beginning of this term that they have no interest in my opinions; width=289engaging in personal name calling the marginalization of the chairs voice and claiming my Texas ideals are out of touch. Windham also thanked his supporters who helped him achieve his position to which he was elected earlier this year. He then announced he would support Gonzales. In a statement issued after Windhams resignation was announced Maldonado called Windhams recent behavior erratic and destructive saying she hopes Windham is able to find the help he needs.
