Manufacturers Rally Behind Trade Promotion Legislation

Call for Swift Action from Congressional Leaders bill.hammond2Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas In a letter coordinated by the National Association of Manufacturers and other major trade associations over 280 organizations representing millions of companies workers farmers and ranchers from nearly every sector of the economy and every state urged for Congressional passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA). 
Trade agreements negotiated and concluded under TPA help drive economic growth and job creation here at home" said the nearly 300 signatories in the letter including the Texas Association of Business. They enable manufacturers service providers farmers and ranchers across the country to reach the 95 percent of the worlds customers who live outside our borders. One in four manufacturing jobs in the United States depends on exports and one in every three acres of farmland is planted for consumers overseas. More than 97 percent of the 300000 U.S. companies that export are small and medium-sized businesses." Trade means a strong Texas economy and means good jobs" said Bill Hammond CEO of the Texas Association of Business.  TAB is a strong advocate for expanding trade and continuing Texas leadership as the number one exporting state in the country." 
The House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate are both taking important steps to move legislation forward that would authorize this longstanding and proven partnership between Congress and the executive branch that facilitates negotiation and approval of trade agreements. TPA is essential because it ensures congressional input on trade negotiations and increases Congresss power to shape and influence trade deals that will level the playing field for manufacturers and job creators around the world.
