Early voting in person extends from May 14 to May 25 and voters may cast their ballot at any early voting location in their county.  On Election Day May 29 voters must go to the polling location for their precinct and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Those unable to vote in person during early voting or on Election Day may apply for a ballot by mail.  The completed application for a mail ballot must be received by the county elections office no later than May 22. To help voters can informed ballots www.VOTE411.org provides nonpartisan candidate information for contested races with a Build Your Ballot feature to identify races relevant to a voters address.  Links to VOTE411.org to LWV-TX Voters Guides in English and Spanish and to Texas local Leagues and their Voters Guides are available on the LWV-TX website www.lwvtexas.org. With the election scheduled for the Tuesday after Memorial Day Weekend many fear that voter turnout will be low.  If turnout is low a relatively small number of Texas voters will decide the composition of the Texas Congressional delegation the Texas legislature the State Board of Education and other elected bodies. The issues in this election-from public education to jobs and health care-are too important to let just a few voters decide for everyone Nicholson continues.
All registered voters have a stake and need to participate in the election.  Vote yourself and encourage friends and family to do so: talk to those you know send an email blast post a message on Facebook-spread the word in any way you can!
After going to the polls voters can complete a short survey on their experiences on the LWV-Texas website www.lwvtexas.org .
