McCaul Identifies 4 Major Threats Country Faces for 113th Congress

Cong. McCaul takes helm of crucial Homeland Security Committee

As Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security I will focus on facing both terrorist and natural disaster threats on several fronts beginning with rigorous oversight of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)."

Today the United States faces unprecedented national security challenges from both overseas and here at home.  We must ensure that all DHS operations are effective and that taxpayer dollars are not mismanaged. While we have made great progress in protecting our nation since September 11th there still is much work to be done to ensure that Americans are kept safe" McCaul said. width=302I will work to bolster our defenses against cyber attacks on critical infrastructure enhance our border security and ensure that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) effectively protects travelers. Our Committee consists of a highly qualified team committed to ensuring the Department of Homeland Security is capable of carrying out its core mission of protecting the homeland.  Our team will work to address what the Committee has identified as the four major threats our country faces:
  1. International & Domestic Terrorism
  2. Unsecured Borders
  3. Cyber Attacks and
  4. the Departments dysfunctional management which continues to hinder security operations and cost taxpayers billions of dollars in waste.

  • Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness Response & Communications: Congresswoman Susan Brooks (R-IN)
  • Subcommittee on Oversight & Management Efficiency: Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC)
  • Subcommittee on Transportation Security: Congressman Richard Hudson (R-NC)
