Menndez Calls on Texas Senate to Tackle Cyberbullying

jose.menendez.3Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas (San Antonio Texas) - Today Senator Jos Menndez called on the Texas Senate to study cyberbullying by creating a Senate Select Committee on Bullying. The Senator sent a letter to Lt. Governor Patrick demanding a special committee be named to investigate bullying.   
Since I announced my intention to file and pass Davids Law I have received several calls from concerned parents telling me their child has been bullied. This is a pervasive problem in our schools and Im calling on the Senate to act" said Senator Menndez.  This crisis must be addressed immediately. We cannot sit on the sidelines while our children are being harassed."
If named a Senate Select Committee on Bullying would have the ability to hold hearings across the state of Texas. It would also hear testimony from a variety of stakeholders including; parents teachers school administrators law enforcement and child health experts.
Our goal is develop a comprehensive law that prevents and reduces bullying. After hearing horror story after horror story from parents and their children I can tell you the status quo and current policies are not working said Senator Menndez.  We must do better for the wellbeing of Texas children.
