Mid-Terms Approaching Are You Ready?

width=71By Rep. Ken Paxton Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Early voting begins this coming Monday October 18 2010 and ends Friday October 29 2010. Election Day is Tuesday November 2 2010. Mid-term elections are quickly approaching are you ready?     In recent days I have seen some misinformation regarding a ballot proposition on the November ballot to create a statewide property tax.    The State of Texas does not have any proposed constitutional amendments or ballot propositions on the November 2010 ballot and I am happy to say the Texas Constitution continues to prohibit a statewide property tax.  Any ballot propositions listed on your ballot this year have been brought forth by your local elected officials and not the Texas Legislature.  Voters may vote early in person at any early voting location within his/her county.  To view polling locations dates and times or to view a sample ballot for your precinct please visit the Collin County Elections website. The deadline for an application for a ballot by mail must be received by the Early Voting Clerk by October 26.  A voter is eligible to vote early by mail if he/she is:
  • 65 years old or older on Election Day;
  • Going to be away from their county on Election Day and during early voting;
  • Sick or disabled; or
  • Confined in jail but eligible to vote.
I hope all eligible voters in Collin County will take the time to vote in this important upcoming election.  For more information on voting please visit www.VOTEXAS.org or call the Office of the Secretary of State at 1-800-252-VOTE (8683)
