Candidate for State Representative to speak about leadership at Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center
HARKER HEIGHTS TEXAS (February 18 2008) – Mike Pearce Republican candidate for House District 55 and a former teacher has accepted an invitation from local students to speak before a large audience of high school student council members from throughout Central Texas. The event is being held at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center in Temple and Pearce is scheduled to speak at 10:30AM on Wednesday February 20 2008.
Harker Heights High School student and event organizer Kelcey Bacon stated “Mr. Pearce is a prime example of leadership as his tangible success was made possible through hard-work and determination. He’s a former marine a gifted teacher a small businessman and now a candidate for state representative showing great promise. We feel that he can effectively motivate the members of Student Councils across Central Texas to stand up speak up and take action.” Bacon concluded “We are very excited that Mr. Pearce has accepted our invitation.”
Pearce stated “I always look forward to the opportunity to speak to young about our civic duties and the importance of demonstrating leadership in all aspects of life. I am humbled that these students felt that I was a strong example of positive leadership and asked me to be their guest speaker.” Pearce concluded “I can imagine few things more rewarding than knowing that your walk through life has been inspirational to young people.”
Mike Pearce a former U.S. Marine taught in Bell County public schools for 10 years and received exemplary reviews for his innovative teaching methods from students parents and administrators. Pearce recently founded an educational software company that sells technology based curriculum to teachers in 29 states and two US territories. Mike has been married to his high school sweetheart Melanie for over seventeen years and they are the proud parents of six wonderful children: Arianna Alexandra Evan Reganne Jillian and Laura.
