December 11 Event benefits local Military and their Children
Texas Insider Report: CAMP MABRY Texas Military Moms of Texas (MMOT) a non-profit organization that supports U.S. military personnel and their families at home during deployment is holding its annual Operation Green Santa on
Sunday December 11 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Camp Mabry. The purpose of Operation Green Santa is to collect toys 
and raise funds for local military families in need during the holidays" said Tracy LaPorte founder of Military Moms of Texas.
In its second year the Camp Mabry event will feature music from various local artists food as well as kids activities like face painting a bounce house rides pictures with Santa and much more. Festivities begin with a procession of 200 motorcycles and 20 escorts and will feature kids activities real locomotive kids train clown balloon artist live music food bounce house and Santa.
The Texas Association of Vietnam Veterans will also be on hand to assist in the opening ceremony.
Operation Green Santa is an opportunity to provide the local Austin community with a family event to remember the sacrifices our services members and their families make for our freedom"
says Sharon Payne of Military Moms of Texas.
This event is open to the public with anyone interested in attending asked to bring two unwrapped toys. Camp Mabry is accessed at the Maintenance Drive gate from 35th Street. All visitors need a valid drivers license or military i.d. to enter.
All donations gathered during the event allow the organization to adopt families in need during the holiday season and provide holiday cheer.

MMOT provides a variety of programs aside from Operation Green Santa and resources for military families and veterans. MMOT partners with local businesses and organizations to offer troops home on leave a Deployed Night Out" which is a program designed to help troops enjoy a night out on the town while home by offering them gift certificates to shows events restaurants sporting events concerts and more.
