Mobile Disaster Recovery Center to Open in Brownsville

Ortiz (D-Texas) announced today the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center Mobile Unit in Brownsville to aid those affected by recent flooding caused by Hurricane Alex in South Texas. I encourage those who were affected by Hurricane Alex and its massive flooding to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and visit these valuable disaster recovery centers in South Texas" Ortiz said. Representatives with state federal and voluntary agencies as well as customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be available at the center to answer questions and provide disaster loan information to homeowners individuals and business owners." The mobile Disaster Recovery Center will be located in Cameron County at Centro Cultural 2100 Gregory Ave. Brownsville Texas 78526. Those affected by the disaster are encouraged to register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing- or speech-impaired. Tele-registration hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. Those affected by the flooding or hurricane can also register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or visit a Disaster Recovery Center to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists.
