Washington DC – House Conference Secretary John Carter (TX-31) today made the following statement after a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll highlighted that 57 percent of Americans favor more energy exploration in the United States to help bring down gas prices. Last week Republicans brought forth an energy plan that calls for more American energy exploration.
“Americans are tightening their belts and canceling family vacations because they can’t afford to pay the Pelosi Premium at the gas station. This poll shows Americans agree with Republicans and want more energy exploration to happen here at home. Republicans have brought forth a commonsense environmentally responsible energy plan that will provide our country with its own secure oil and gas supply and deliver the relief Americans are looking for.
“Many of the ideas included in the Republican energy plan are not new. For years Republicans have pushed for energy policies that would provide our country with a stable energy supply but time and time again Democrats have put up road blocks to keep these solutions from happening. Even now as gas and diesel prices set new record highs the Majority Leadership continues to ignore the mounting problem.
“The American people believe that Congress must take action to unlock new energy supplies here at home. Republicans have a plan and stand ready to work with Democrats to deliver solutions the American people deserve.”
