Congresswoman Kay Granger

I think shes Speaker Nancy Pelosi going to go up and test-drive it when she goes back to Washington Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said. It might stick.
The consumer option? The competitive option? Nancy Pelosis public relations shop has been hard at work trying to rebrand a nationally unpopular policy by changing its name multiple times.
I want to make sure that Texans follow the dizzying parade of changes in terminology and remind everyone what Speaker Pelosi is selling.
When the Obama Administration first unveiled its plans for health care reform it was called a single-payer" system. That language quickly received an overwhelmingly negative connotation.
The term public-option was then born and has remained in press reports but some lawmakers became creative fending off angry constituents by using other terms to describe the government takeover. Members of Congress have camouflaged the government-run system as co-ops" or a public plan with an opt-out". These lighter more consumer-friendly terms have still not stuck.
So if you hear Democrats using consumer option" or competitive option" dont be fooled. Their salesmanship will continue to fail no matter what they call it. Terminology will not erase the continuing doubts we all have about having the federal government run our health care.
