Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Did U.S. Senate candidate Ted Cruz try to rig tonights Texas Republican Primary Debate? Thats what opponent Craig James is claiming.

th.
Today I was put in an awkward position by Ted Cruz a man Ive come to know and respect. Ted sent me a text suggesting I ask him a set-up question for Fridays U.S. Senate debate. In my mind this is nothing more
than an attempt to rig the system James said.
The whole idea of trying to rig the system put me in a position where I couldnt stand by said James.
While researching information about tonights little known debate
we came across some humorous bad habits about texting ... as part of this exclusive story covering the Senate Race.
Yes Ted Cruz got in some hot water this week when he was caught trying to rig tonights debate via a text message to fellow candidate Craig James.
The candidates are slated to ask each other questions during one segment of the debate and in a random drawing set up James was selected to pose a question to candidate Cruz.
But on Wednesday Candidate James received an unexpected personal text from Cruz. James says Cruz asked jim to pose a set-up question designed to attack attack the front runner Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.
James publically released the text message to remove all doubt where he stood on the idea while blasting Cruz.
Cruz wrote the following text which was provided by the James campaign :
Since youre asking me a Q it might be worth asking me something about Dew skipping 31 debates (or something else related to his record). Just an idea.... Ted.
The
Texas Conservatives Fund is using Cruzs textgate as a funny but effective way to highlight some of Cruzs positions and they allude questionable friends.

Dewhurst who is the front-runner has not attended many of the candidate forums saying hes busy with state business or will meet voters on his own.
Still James says a set-up question for whats meant to be unrehearsed is not the way to do it.
I agree with the concept but that were going to go together and work toward something conniving - that just isnt right says James.
This is unfortunately what Texans have come to expect from Ted Cruz. If hes not taking credit for Attorney General Greg Abbotts record Cruz is rigging yet another debate said a spokesman from the Dewhurst camp.
The Dewhurst campaign refers to the January debate where sponsors did not allow charts or props. Nonetheless Cruz repeatedly referred to notes which candidate James called him out on.
I didnt think we were supposed to bring any papers said James while pointing to Cruz.
The Belo Debate will also not allow candidates to bring along notes or props but they are encouraged to bring good questions for each other.
The statewide Texas Primary is scheduled for Tuesday May 29.
