Newton: NFIBs 2016 Primary Election Endorsements for State Candidates.

nfbiTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas As you already know the primary election season is upon us and weve witnessed a very uncanny and unconventional race for president and many local offices. As Ive written here in the past many people refer to this time as crazy season" as candidates and campaigns are making promises and promoting their agendas loudly and proudly.    Early voting is February 16 - 26 and the actually primary date is Tuesday March 1. NFIB/Texas has long stayed out of primary elections choosing instead to concentrate on the general elections in November. That has been a blessing and a curse over the years and a policy that served us well in the past but not anymore. NFIB/Texas has been promoting prodding our members your peers in the small business community to seek public office. Particularly in the Texas Legislature where we need more business owners so that we can ensure Texas remains open for small independent businesses like yours. With that in mind we changed our policy on endorsements and are now actively endorsing and working on behalf of NFIB members who are serving in the Texas Legislature and maintain a very high NFIB Voting Record. Our endorsements for the 2016 primary election include are:
  • Representative Kyle Kacal District 12 (Brazos Falls Limestone McLennan Robertson Counties) 100 percent NFIB Voting Record
  • Representative John Raney District 14 (Brazos County) 100 percent NFIB Voting Record
  • Representative John Cyrier District 17 (Bastrop Caldwell Gonzales Karnes Lee Counties) 100 percent NFIB Voting Record
  • Representative Doug Miller District 73 (Comal Gillespie Kendall Counties) 100 percent NFIB Voting Record
  • Representative Charlie Geren District 99 (Tarrant County) 100 percent NFIB Voting Record
Additionally NFIB/Texas was proud to present Texas House Speaker Joe Straus with the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award. This award is the highest honor NFIB can bestow upon an elected official. Speaker Straus earned the Guardian Award by generally helping to control new rules and regulations and for his staunch support of NFIB and our campaign to lower the franchise tax rate by 25 percent. Please take the time to support these small business candidates and thank them for stepping up to the plate and serving all Texans and particularly independent businesses across this great state.
