Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Today U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) issued the following statement on the news that the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) has filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court appealing the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals decision that the individual mandate can be severed from the Obama Health Care Law:
Im pleased to see that the National Federation of Independent Businesses has officially asked for the Supreme Court to review the constitutionality of the Obama health care law. The uncertainty surrounding this law has frozen Americas economy and the nations businesses have waited long enough for some finality.
I trust the Supreme Court will take this case as soon as possible. And I hope the Supreme Court affirms the 11th Circuits finding that the individual mandate is unconstitutional and strikes down the law. However until a decision clarifies the status our states and businesses are wasting millions of dollars.
American families and businesses should not have to spend one more dime implementing a law that may eventually be found unconstitutional. That is why Congress should act immediately to pass my Save Our States Act a bill that would halt any further implementation of this costly and burdensome law until we know whether it is constitutional."
