Recover.gov reports close to $15 million worth of taxpayer money spent in non-existent congressional districts

WASHINGTON: After reading a recent news report about jobs created or saved in Arizona congressional district that dont exist Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis/Arlington) decided to check out the data for Texas. What he found should be considered a slap in the face to the millions of unemployed Texans.
The website
www.Recovery.gov shows that close to $15 million worth of stimulus funds created 98 jobs in Congressional Districts that dont even exist.
This information only confirms my worst fears about the stimulus and the Obama Administrations handling of the economic crisis. Democrats voted to spend nearly $1 trillion taxpayer dollars with very little oversight and it has turned into a boondoggle" said Rep. Barton.
Recovery.gov reports that nearly $9 million dollars was spent in the mythical 52nd Congressional District of Texas to create ZERO jobs and that is only the beginning. The chart below is comprised of numbers taken directly from
www.Recovery.gov and it is important to point out that none of these are actual Congressional Districts:
52nd congressional district 0 $8937289
58th congressional district 45 $3659694
86th congressional district 6 $943326
00 congressional district 11 $752292
68th congressional district 1 $310963
91st congressional district 30 $57367
85th congressional district 5 $56661
The information provided for real" Congressional Districts is also questionable.
In my district Texas-06 the Obama Administration claims it created or saved 762.5 jobs at a cost of $166482260. Do the math and that equals more than $218000 per job. I wish I knew what company was hiring at that rate so I could tell unemployed constituents where to send their applications. Many of them would be happy to make a fraction of that salary. The unsubstantiated claims posted on Recovery.gov are astonishing and it begs the question: How can we trust the administration to run the Stimulus when they cant even run a website?" said Barton.
