Olson Acts to Open Access to Federal Land & Protect 2nd Amendment Rights

Olson voted in support of H.R. 2406 the Sportsmens Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act. This bill would promote greater opportunities and safeguard the rights of hunters anglers and recreational shooters.  The bill passed by a vote of 242-161. Texas is truly a haven for sportsmen and anglers to treasure our lands and help conserve them for future generations" Rep. Olson said.   • Federal agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service have prevented hunters anglers and recreational shooters from accessing federal lands and regulated sportsmens possession of types of ammo tackle bows and firearms.
  • The SHARE Act provides sustained access to federal lands for sportsmen and requires federal agencies to increase coordination with states.
  • The bill also exempts lead ammo and tackle from Environmental Protection Agency regulations and prevents U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from regulating or banning lawfully possessed ivory products such as firearms antiques and musical instruments.
  • SHARE Act protects citizens Second Amendment right to possess a firearm on land owned by the Army Corps of Engineers and to transport crossbows across National Park Service lands.
