Olson Applauds Victory on Overreaching Ammunition Ban

pete-olsonTexas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today issued the following statement of strong support after the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced plans to suspend its proposal to ban the M855 green tip ammunition used in the AR-15 rifle - the most popular rifle in America:
Liberals in Washington were unsuccessful in restricting our gun rights through a ban on firearms so instead they attempted a backdoor approach by going after the ammunition via an executive order. Thats why 238 of my House colleagues and I sent a letter to ATF urging them to stop this overreach. Our efforts were complimented by 53 of our Senate colleagues who sent a similar letter. According to media reports the public outcry was immediate with ATF receiving more than 80000 public comments with a majority of them strongly criticizing the proposal. I will continue to protect our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Im glad ATF heard the public outcry and will continue to monitor any effort by government to violate our constitutional rights.
