Olson Attends Tom DeLay Air Traffic Control Tower Dedication

pete.olson4Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. (SUGAR LAND TX) Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) today joined with City of Sugar Land officials at Sugar Land Regional Airport to dedicate and rename the air traffic control tower after former House Majority Leader and Sugar Land resident Tom DeLay.

Under his leadership in Congress Mr. DeLay led a strong Republican Majority and was a tireless advocate for our region and the State of Texas. Without him the Sugar Land Regional Airport would not exist. Dedicating the Tom DeLay Air Traffic Control Tower is a fitting tribute. This tower serves as a reminder of everything Majority Leader DeLay contributed as our representative. I am proud to carry his mantle and represent Sugar Land and the Twenty Second Congressional District in Congress." Tom DeLay saw in this airport a vision for the economic strength of our region and he used his influence in Washington to champion what would become the top-rated corporate FBO in the Western Hemisphere said Sugar Land Mayor James Thompson. This facility is an international port of call.  Business people from all over the world fly into Sugar Land Regional to invest valuable capital in our region. His contributions quite literally placed the City of Sugar Land on the map and impacted our quality of life.
  Olson asked the City of Sugar Land to consider renaming the air tower as a tribute to the former House Majority Leader for his many significant contributions to the Sugar Land area. Working with the City of Sugar Land Olson submitted the appropriate written requests in order to name the airports air traffic control tower after Tom DeLay. The Council approved the measure unanimously.
