Olson Slams ObamaCare for Allowing Taxpayer Funded Abortions

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON DC - Cong. Pete Olson (TX-22) today issued the following statement in response to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that confirms that taxpayer subsidized Obamacare plans are funding abortions. 

Since Obamacare was rammed through Congress House Republicans and pro-life advocates have expressed concern with its ability to open the door to taxpayer-funded abortions. Todays GAO report confirms our fears were based on reality. Abortions are being paid for with taxpayer funds by more than 1000 exchange plans across the country.  In January the House passed H.R. 7 to prevent tax dollars from being used to fund insurance plans that cover abortions and ensure that no other funds established through Obamacare are used for abortions. It would also make permanent pro-life policies that were previously passed on an annual basis. This is a critical step in protecting Americans from funding practices against their will. Sadly Harry Reid has refused to bring this critical bill to the Senate floor for a vote. I urge the Senate to protect hard-working taxpayers from being forced to subsidize the taking of innocent life under Obamacare or any other federal spending policies.
