Olson Stands with Religious Leaders in Opposing Mayor Parkers Subpoenas for Sermons

pete-olsonTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Sugar Land TX - Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) issued the following statement in support of Houston religious leaders opposed to handing over the text of their sermons in retaliation for voicing opposition to Mayor Annise Parkers equal rights city ordinance:
Mayor Parker has used her office to try and intimidate pastors and violate the religious liberties of these congregations who were practicing their faith.  Its a gross abuse of her office and another example of how liberal elected officials will seek to use their power like a battering ram against those who dont march in lockstep with their ideology.  Whether its the Obama Administration using the IRS to target conservative organizations or Mayor Parker using her office to intimidate pastors these actions are a violation of our Constitution and should not be tolerated in the United States.  I call upon the Mayor to issue an apology for the abuse of her office and for attempting to violate the religious liberties of these congregations.
