Gallegos throws down gauntlet without legislation even drafted
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Watch Senators Patrick & Gallegos debate from a recent early morning television show. With Arizona being sued by the Federal Government & Obama Administration
prognosticators in Austin have already begun speculating on the prospects of what Immigration Bills may or may not be introduced this coming January when the Texas Legislature returns and likely ties to address a looming state problem along the border.
Clearly the exchange indicates Texas lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have been readying arguments on the issue. Gallegos: Number one we have 12 votes to block in the Senate and thats a fact." Patrick: Are the Democrats going to lock down and block any law is that what you are saying today you have already made a decision to block any bill that protects Texas citizens?" Gallegos: Any law that looks like Arizona law which is the most mean spirited hate mongering Latino bashing bill I have ever seen." Patrick: If you are going to tell us today that the Democrats are going to lock arms if thats the case Republicans always have the right to change that rule and make it a majority vote. I believe we have a responsibility ... not as Republicans not as Democrats not as Anglos or Latinos or African Americans we have a responsibility as Texans and Americans to do the right thing for everyone."
