Brownsville & Corpus Christi Police Cameron Country DAs & Nueces County Sheriffs Departmenent
Texas Insider Report: WASHINTON D.C U.S. Representative Solomon P. Ortiz (D-Texas) announced today the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant for the Brownsville Police Department and the Cameron County District Attorneys Office for $116952.
Having dedicated my life to law enforcement I am pleased to know this funding will help two agencies in Cameron County as we work together to make South Texas a safe place for all to work live and visit" Ortiz said.
This funding will allow the Brownsville Police Department and the Cameron County District Attorneys Office to purchase equipment and technology to better serve our communities in the area."
The Brownsville Police Department will provide its officers with equipment such as mobile data computers radios video cameras and two patrol units.
The Cameron County District Attorneys Office will purchase computers for their offices and provide light bars for constable patrol vehicles.
We must afford every resource to our police departments and law enforcement agencies and the appropriate equipment and technology to protect us" Ortiz said. That is my commitment to Cameron County that is my commitment to the people of South Texas."

Additional Funding to provide equipment technology and personnel for Coastal Bend
U.S. Representative Solomon P. Ortiz (D-Texas) also announced the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant for the Corpus Christi Police Department and the Nueces County Sheriffs Office for $247696.

This funding will allow the Corpus Christi Police Department and the Nueces County Sheriffs Office to purchase equipment and technology to better serve our communities in the area."
The Corpus Christi Police Department will provide its officers with equipment such as body armors crime reporting software light sources recording devices rifle plates and digital cameras.
The Nueces County Sheriffs Department will hire a prosecutor and replace laptop computers in patrol units.
We must afford every resource to our police department and sheriffs office to ensure they have the appropriate equipment and technology to protect us" Ortiz said.
