Patrick Calls on Houston C&" Club to Open Its Debate

dan-patrickTexas Insider Report: HOUSTON Texas The voters deserve an opportunity to know what happens at this debate said Dan Patrick Texas State Senator and candidate for Texas Lieutenant Governor earlier today calling upon the storied Houston C" Club to open their Tuesday Lt. Governors Debate to the press.   The C" Club a Houston based organization founded in 1964 and comprised of 100 fiscally conservative professionals and businessmen has invited the candidates to a debate.  The debate is scheduled to be held on Tuesday March 18 at the Clubs luncheon meeting. If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound?" said Allen Blakemore Patricks senior strategist.  Whats the point? Dewhurst-PatrickSenator Patrick placed first in this months Republican Primary race for the Lt. Gov. spot and faces incumbent David Dewhurst in the May 27th run-off. The race is being touted as the most important contest on the May 27 Republican Primary Runoff ballot. Whats the point of holding a debate that the voting public is excluded from?" asked Blakemore Senator Patrick is an advocate for openness and transparency in government and he believes those same principles should apply to campaigning as well. Certain limitations might be reasonable based upon space or other considerations but at a bare minimum a pool-reporter really must be accommodated concluded Blakemore. Im not aware if the C" Club has ever held a debate like this between major candidates for high office.  Candidates for high office do not traditionally debate behind closed doors.
