Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – “I know that I will not always agree with Jerry. But, I trust that he always will show the courage to present and debate his ideas candidly, and will use humility and wisdom to listen to others as he works to build a 
majority around conservative solutions,” said Harris County Republican leader Ed Hubbard, announcing his endorsement of Jerry Patterson in the race for Lt. Governor.
In a statement posted to the Big Jolly Politics blog, Hubbard said, “It is because I trust Jerry Patterson to be a courageous conservative reformer, that I wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy to be the next Lieutenant Governor of Texas.”
Commissioner Patterson thanked the longtime Republican activist stating,
“I am very honored to have Ed’s support. His endorsement is a huge boost to the campaign given his many years of grassroots leadership and success within Harris County.
“This race is about the kind of leadership Texas will have as it continues to lead this nation. We need a serious Lieutenant Governor to guide the Senate, and we need Texans like Ed who see the problems facing our state to continue fighting on the ground.
“I am grateful for Ed’s leadership in Harris County and look forward to working with him and other grassroots leaders as Lieutenant Governor.”
During a mid-summer interview with Texas Insider, Patterson told Insider’s Jim Cardle, “Liberty has a price, and a continual surveillance police-state is not something that I subscribe to as being a good idea,” regarding the recent revelations & focus on national security breaches or personal online and phone privacy concerns.
“Whether its the 4th Amendment, the 5th Amendment, or the 2nd Amendment that I’m most closely associated with as the author of Texas’ Concealed Hand Gun Law that we passed back in 1993 (as a then Texas State Senator,) 
… I would submit to you that the 1st Amendment Right, the ‘Freedom of the Press’, is, today, actually under equal or greater threat,” Patterson said.
