Perry Appoints Craddick to Texas Railroad Commission

With my term coming to an end soon and my successor having been elected last month I am stepping down from my position as Railroad Commissioner effective close of business Dec. 7 2012.

It has been my privilege to serve the State of Texas for the last 22 years and I appreciate Gov. Perrys continued confidence  to have appointed me to such crucial and relevant regulatory roles. It has been a pleasure to work most recently with Chairman Smitherman I congratulate Commissioner-elect Christi Craddick and offer her and the Railroad Commission my best wishes."

Craddick will serve an appointed term through the end of 2012 and begin serving a 6-year term as an elected Railroad Commissioner on Jan. 1 2013.

Craddick is an attorney in private practice and small business owner. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Travis County Bar Association and a past board member of Texas Lyceum.

Craddick received a bachelors degree and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Earlier this year during an exclusive interview Craddick told Insiders Jim Cardle

Most Texans know the Railroad Commission has absolutely nothing to do with railroads anymore and everything to do with oil & gas" said then Republican candidate for the Texas Railroad Commission Christi Craddick. When you to talk to people & leaders in the industry today frankly what they want is for the Railroad Commission to not be the EPA or the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.  They want to make sure Texas allows them to continue to be able to create jobs."
