But my vote would go to Rubio" said former Texas Sen. Phil Gramm who ran for president in 1996. I just think hes got a Reaganesque quality to him. He can state strong positions and still smile. His optimism shines in an era where people are not very optimistic" said Gramm who thinks Donald Trump will win the Republican presidential nomination while still preferring Florida Senator Marco Rubio. Number one he can win this election and I think it is vitally important that we elect a conservative Republican to take the Presidents place and undo the Obama programs.  Secondly I think he has the judgment the wisdom the foreign policy experience. I think hes right on terrorism. His economics are good. I think he will appoint good people.

Gramm said he may not agree much with Republican front-runner Donald Trump on policy issues and admits he didnt initially give the billionaire businessman his due but he now believes the Manhattan billionaire has made constructive contributions to the political debate.

I disagree with a lot of what Trump is saying but looking back on it now I have to give him his due. He has spoken to a lot of frustrations that people like me werent paying attention to" said Gramm who ran for president in 1996.  At the end of the day I think he will have contributed to our process.
