Members Kept Their Word in the 82nd Texas Legislature
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas The Texas Conservative Coalition (TCC) today announced that
79 conservative state legislators who signed the Pledge with Texans kept their word during the 82nd Texas Legislature by achieving a number of top-level policy accomplishments during the 82nd Legislative Session. These members remained dedicated to their principles as they successfully advanced conservative positions last session" said John Colyandro TCC Executive Director.
In casting their votes on these crucial issues they reinforced principled governance in Texas and laid the foundation for future growth and prosperity" Colyandro said.
Prior to the start of the regular session 79 state legislators along with Governor Rick Perry and Comptroller Susan Combs signed the Pledge with Texans" the policy agenda of TCC. The Pledge was developed in 2009 and 2010 with significant input from legislators and many of their constituents at town hall meetings.
The legislators who signed the Pledge agreed to advance support and vote for legislation to:
- Balance the budget without raising taxes
- Limit federal intrusion in state affairs
- Improve election integrity
- Cut taxes and encourage the free market and
- Secure the Texas border.
