
The Texas State History Museum Foundation will honor two outstanding Texans President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush with the History-Making Texan Award at the Foundations Sixth Annual Texas Independence Day Dinner.
The History-Making Texan Award recognizes living Texas legends whose contributions to the state and the nation have been truly historic and exceptional in scope.

WHY: The Texas State History Museum Foundations annual Texas Independence Day Dinner celebrates Texas Independence Day and honors the history of Texas while promoting awareness of and supporting The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.
Honoring extraordinary Texas luminaries whose legacies will impact Texans for generations to come the March 2nd event is sold out gaining the attention and support of many notables across the state.
Over 500 business political and community leaders will be in attendance to help the Foundation honor these two outstanding history-making Texans including Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst Speaker Joe Straus U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans Karl Rove Mack Brown Darrell K. Royal former ambassadors and many current and former state legislators.
Other Texas notables included in the program are Foundation Board President Bill Jones (Austin) NASA Astronaut Tim Kopra (Seabrook) Karen Hughes (Austin) and Joe ONeill (Midland). Julie Jones Oles and Molly Hasie Sherman are the co-chairs of the event along with honorary co-chair for the evening Jan Bullock.

Country music star Clay Walker will perform the National Anthem and Texas Our Texas!

The Museum opened in Austin in April 2001 with a formal dedication by President George W. Bush.
Since its opening The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum has shared the inspirational Story of Texas with over 4 million visitors through high-quality exhibits interactive media experiences and educational programs.
