width=65President Bush released a revised Emergency Declaration today for the State of Texas to include Anderson Dallas Cherokee Henderson Kaufman Van Zandt and Wood Counties.

Congressman Jeb Hensarling (TX-05) along with 15 other Texas Representatives sent a letter earlier this week urging President Bush to approve Governor Rick Perry’s emergency declaration request.  President Bush’s emergency declaration authorizes the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide assistance for required emergency measures to save lives and to protect property public health and safety.

“It is critical that residents listen carefully and heed the warnings of local and state authorities. Mother Nature is a powerful force.  We should respect both her power and the advice of first responders” said Hensarling.

Individuals are advised to prepare emergency supply kits that can provide for basic needs for at least 72 hours and develop family emergency plans.
