Presidents American Jobs Act Pushes Returning Heroes Wounded Warrior Tax Credits

width=158Promote New Initiatives to Get Veterans Back to Work Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C.  The Secretary of Veterans Affairs the Secretary of Labor and the U.S. Small Business Administrator will urge the Congress to approve the Returning Heroes Tax Credit and the Wounded Warrior Tax Credit contained in the Presidents American Jobs Act. On Monday leading Veterans Service Organizations the American Legion; the Veterans of Foreign Wars; the Disabled American Veterans; and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America each endorsed these tax credits as an effort to kick-start veterans employment.   Secretary Shinseki Secretary Solis and Administrator Mills Urge Passage of Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior Tax Credits. Federal data released on Friday showed that during the past two months the unemployment rate for Post-9/11 veterans has climbed to 12.1 percent more than 3 percentage points above the civilian unemployment rate. Two key tax credits in the American Jobs Act would help to encourage businesses to hire veterans.  The new Returning Heroes Tax Credit would provide businesses that width=81hire unemployed veterans with a credit of $5600 per hire.   The American Jobs Act also includes an increase in the existing Wounded Warriors Tax Credit of up to $9600 per veteran for firms that hire veterans who have service-connected disabilities and who have been unemployed for an extended period of time. The Cabinet officials will host an on-the-record call to discuss the Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior Tax Credits that are included in the American Jobs Act and new initiatives the Administration is launching to help veterans get back to work.
