SAN ANTONIO Texas – Fifteen private attorneys will be recognized by Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) the largest provider of legal aid in Texas for their strong commitment to serving low-income Texans.
The celebration is part of the 8th Annual Domestic Violence Shelter – TRLA Cross Training Conference. The conference to be held April 30 through May 2 aims to bring together staff members from domestic violence shelters and legal aid attorneys to collaborate on the most effective ways to serve victims of domestic violence. It is hosted by the Legal Access to Rural Shelters (LARS) Project a TRLA initiative that partners with rural shelters to provide for the safety of domestic violence victims and their children.
“There are a countless number of attorneys who give their time freely to help domestic violence victims navigate through the legal system and rebuild their lives” said TRLA attorney and LARS director Maricarmen Garza. “We are proud to recognize them for their hard work and dedication.”
The attorneys will be recognized on May 2 at the Omni Colonnade Hotel in San Antonio. The ceremony will take place at 1:30 pm following an address by Chief Justice Alma Lopez of the Texas Fourth Court of Appeals.
“Legal aid would not be able to help so many people without the commitment of attorneys throughout the state of Texas” added Garza.
