Puryear Rose Field Pemberton Earn Justice League Backing

3rd Court of Appeals Election is Crucial to Texas Voters width=120Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas One of our primary efforts is to educate voters about the importance of judicial elections and offer recommendations for the most experienced and well-qualified candidates in judicial races" width=113said Red McCombs Texas Civil Justice League Chairman. This slate of candidates (3rd Court of Appeals Judge David Puryear right) represents a distinguished group of jurists and attorneys wholl preserve the Texas judicial system and protect the people of Texas with honor & integrity.   Formed in 1986 the TCJL PAC supports statewide legislative and judicial candidates regardless of party affiliation who are committed to creating and maintaining a fair and efficient Texas civil justice system. TCJL has more than 5000 members in Texas. The Texas Civil Justice League Political Action Committee (TCJL PAC) earlier today endorsed a slate of judicial candidates for the upcoming November 6 general election. The list of endorsed width=71candidates are listed below. Don Willett*  (R) Texas Supreme Court Place 2 Nathan Hecht*  (R) Texas Supreme Court Place 6

Of particlular import to Texans is the Texas 3rd Court of Appeals in Austin often the court of last resort for width=70citizens and regulatory matters in Texas. Overseeing legal challenges to state laws as Texas citizens appeal State Government Agencies implementation of regulation the 3rd Court of Appeals decides the bulk of regulatory litigation in Texas. However these laws are only as good as the judges who give effect to them. As a result legal analysts say its importance cannot be understated.
The 3rd Court of Appeals acts as a statewide administrative court for implementation of laws passed by the Texas Legislature which are often legally challenged in Austin. This is one of the reasons it is essential that the 3rd Court of Appeals be composed of jurists who are competent experienced honest and judicially conservative.
Plaintiff trial lawyer Steve Mostyn who has so far contributed approximately $2 million to Barack Obamas re-election effort and his colleagues in the personalinjury and mass tort trial bar apparently believe the same and see an opportunity during the 2012 Election to control this important court. A just-newly formed & little known Political Action Committee the Judicial Fairness Fund notified the Texas Ethics Commission in late August that it planned to exceed the $5000 per campaign spending limit provided in the Judicial Campaign Fairness Act to challenge conservative Republican Justices Puryear Rose Pemberton and  Scott Field in their races for the 3rd Court. Contributors to this PAC are unknown at this time however a flood of new money into the 3rd Court races could be a game-changer and elevates the 3rd Court races to the top of the heap in contested judicial elections this cycle.  The Judicial Fairness Fund PAC has since been undertaking a concerted radio & TV-buy effort throughout central Texas to elect liberals to this width=127bench. As a result Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR) earlier this week also urged Texas voters to support the conservative lawyer and judges running for the 3rd Court saying they deserve your financial support. The Texas Civil Justice League Political Action Committee (TCJL PAC) also endorsed:

Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR) leading State officials and the Legislature have worked tirelessly to pass model tort reform width=160legislation in order to keep Texas economy strong. Ealier this week while announcing its backing of these judicial conservatives TLR noted These judicially conservative candidates for the 3rd Court of Appeals have earned and we urge you to give them your full support:. Few votes will have more import for Texas. Another important way to help these candidates is to encourage your family friends and business colleagues to vote for them on November 6 (or early voting starts today October 22). Because very few voters have the time or ability to become well enough informed about judicial races your recommendation will matter said the group.
