Railroad Commissioner Barry Smitherman Continues Vigorous Campaign

width=70Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas - Railroad Commission Chairman Barry Smitherman vowed to continue to vigorously campaign for election.  This is Smithermans first run for elected office and he garnered an impressive 44.2 of the vote.  Chairman Smitherman was short of the 50 mark and an outright victory. I appreciate the hard work of everyone on our team - most of all my wife and four children.  When I set off to campaign for this spot I knew it wouldnt be easy to get 50 with four people in the race.  Todays result bears that out Smitherman said. I look forward to a vigorous campaign contrasting my accomplishments and proven conservative record against that of my opponent a career politician with a long record of liberal tax and spend policies whose rhetoric doesnt match his record.  I will continue to travel the state and deliver my message of economic prosperity job growth and American Energy Independence - all led by an efficient effective Railroad Commission he continued. Texans know now is not the time for a career politician with a thin record who is running for office for the fifth time.  We need strong conservative leaders with a proven track record who can stand up to the Obama bureaucrats in Washington as well as the naysayers in our own state.  I pledge to be that leader Smitherman concluded.   The runoff will be on July 31.
