Randy Stevenson Files for SBOE District 9

width=72Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Now is the time to restore integrity to District 9. The voters of District 9 deserve a conservative Republican on the State Board not a registered lobbyist whos livelihood creates a conflict of interest" said Tyler businessman Randy Stevenson while filing to run for District 9 on the State Board of Education (SBOE) a seat he held during the 1990s. As a former State Board member Stevenson said he feels he is the most qualified candidate to represent the values of the voters of District 9. District 9 for the State Board of Education is comprised of 31 counties in north and east Texas. Thomas Ratliff who joined the board in January 2011 has faced several problems with serving on the board since he is a registered lobbyist by profession. Stevenson addressed the issue stating I believe parents deserve a board member who will represent their families rather than big corporations. Many voters do not realize our current board member is a registered lobbyist whose clients conduct business with our public schools.  I feel the citizens of north and east Texas desire and deserve a conservative uncompromised voice on the SBOE representing them and their children not influenced by corporations that profit from public schools." Stevenson 57 unseated an incumbent in 1994 and served a four-year term.  He chose not to rerun in 1998 in order to devote needed time to his business and his family but left the office satisfied that the immediate issues to which he was committed were addressed. Stevenson and his family have lived in the Tyler TX for the past twenty years.  He served his country in the United States Army his state as a member of the State Board of Education and his church and local community in various capacities. Stevenson graduated from North Texas State University with a BBA in finance in 1979 and later went back to school to earn a masters degree in business. He is the owner of Stevenson Capital Wealth Management a retirement planning and investment brokerage firm.  Randy and his wife Shannon have been married thirty years and have two adult children.
