The latest information

DALLAS - Three high school students from Guadalupe county have recently been diagnosed with the swine influenza virus that has recently been discovered in Texas.
This outbreak has resulted in the temporary closing of all 14 schools and two district facilities in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District in the San Antonio area until further investigation has been undergone on the cause and extent of this virus.
Gov. Rick Perry has responded to this epidemic by requesting 37430 courses of antiviral medications from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in hopes of preventing further spread of the virus. In reaction to this disturbing matter Rep. Alonzo has reported that he will stay in close contact with the Governor and with various health officials for any additional updates.
Cases of swine flu similar to those found in Texas have been discovered in California Kansas and Mexico with the Mexico virus being identical to the one found in Texas. Symptoms of the virus are consistent with those of influenza disease and anyone with no explanation for flu-like symptoms should consult a physician immediately and avoid contact with others.
Health matters like this should be taken seriously. I will do all I can to stay abreast of the important health matter and will pass the information along as it becomes available said Rep. Alonzo. The important thing for now is that we take the advice our health officials have always given us in the past with any regular or seasonal flu… including staying home if you experience any flu-like symptoms such as fever fatigue lack of appetite or coughing.
